Kali chaudash speacial

Kali Chaudash is also known as Bhut Chaturdashi. Kali Chaudas is mainly observed in Western states especially in Gujarat.

Kali Chaudash is observed during Chaturdashi Tithi during Diwali festivity. However Kali Chaudas day should not be mixed with Roop Chaudas and Narak Chaturdashi as it might fall one day before of Narak Chaturdashi. The day of Kali Chaudash is decided when Chaturdashi prevails during midnight which as per Panchang is known as Maha Nishita time.

As rituals of Kali Chaudash involve visiting crematorium during midnight for offering Puja to the Goddess of darkness and to Veer Vetal, the day of Kali Chaudash is decided when Chaturdashi prevails during midnight.

It seems that most Panchang do not make such distinction and list Kali Chaudas with Roop Chaudas and Narak Chaturdashi. Hence one has to be cautious while looking for Kali Chaudash date.

Further Kali Chaudas should not be confused with Bengal Kali Puja which is observed one day after Kali Chaudas when Amavasya Tithi prevails during midnight

Diwali (or Deepavali, the “festival of lights”) is an ancient Hindu festival celebrated in autumn (northern hemisphere) every year. Diwali is the biggest and the brightest festival in India. The festival spiritually signifies the victory of light over darkness.

Diwali, or Deepavali, is an official public holiday in many parts of India and is part of a five-day Hindu observance known as the ‘Festival of Lights’.

Diwali is celebrated between mid-October and mid-November in the western calendar, depending upon the lunar cycle for that year.

The Festival of Lights, Diwali, is a colorful and happy celebration. Families prepare their homes and themselves for the special festivities that symbolize the victory of spiritual goodness and the lifting of spiritual darkness.

Diwali can also represent the awareness of inner light within a person when ignorance is pushed aside by understanding and enlightenment.
